Nuremburg

Monday 6th August
Nuremburg
It had rained all night and all morning. There were three different tours. We chose the one that had no connection to WW2 or the mad man who's army had dominated this town. We went for a walk around the town. Lots of really old buildings that were really well maintained, and next to it a modern building and then you remember that large areas of the town was bombed and so that is the reason for the mixture. There were some lovely parks along a little river and we sat and had a coffee on a balcony over looking a park. It was very peaceful. The rain was either pelting down and everyone was looking for shelter or the sun came out and everyone was looking for shade. I surprised Den again today - no not another beer - it was so wet I used an umbrella!!!!!! I decided it was a good way of self defence but I still nearly had my face re-arranged by an umbrella of a passing little lady.
Back to the boat and a Bavarian Beer tasting awaited us. It was very entertaining. We tried four different beers - a bright beer - a pilsiner - a dark beer - and a wheat beer which had been brewed in the traditional fashion. The dark beer was the most popular - it was the only one that I drank, with just a taste of the others. It reminded me of how much I'm looking forward to a Guiness in an Irish Pub (in Ireland of course).
Dinner was an Asian banquet - it was very nice but authentic it certainly was not. The day finished with a dance up in the lounge.
